A method for wireless communications, comprising: generating a frame comprising a first part and a second part, said first part being decodable by a first device that operates according to a first protocol, with said second part not being decodable by the first device, in which the first and second parts are decodable by a second device operating according to a second protocol; wherein generating the frame comprises generating a first subframe comprising the first and second parts, and generating a second subframe comprising a third part and a fourth part, the third part being decodable by the first device that operates according to the first protocol, the fourth part not being decodable by the first device, and the third and fourth parts being decodable by the second device operating according to the second protocol; wherein generating the frame comprises configuring: the second part to include a first set of frequency domain pseudo-random binary sequence data configured for transmission over a first set of subcarriers of a first OFDM transmission; and the fourth part to include a second set of frequency domain pseudo-random binary sequence data configured for transmission over a second set of subcarriers of a second OFDM transmission; and wherein generating the frame comprises generating: the first frequency domain pseudo-random binary sequence data set based on a first original value for a particular primitive polynomial; and the second set of frequency domain pseudo-random binary sequence data based on a second original value for the particular primitive polynomial; and sending the frame for transmission, wherein the output of the frame for transmission comprises the output of the first and second sets of frequency domain pseudo-random bit sequence data for transmission in a substantially time-aligned manner.
