A nerve growth factor (NGF) antagonist and an opioid analgesic for use in the treatment of postsurgical pain, whereby the NGF antagonist and the opioid analgesic in combination provide effective pain relief, and in which the antagonist NGF is an anti-NGF antibody that inhibits the binding of NGF to its trkA and p75 receptors in vivo.
