A communication method (3000) through a wireless communication network, the method being characterized by: determining (3010) a total bandwidth for a transmission of a message according to a first specification, comprising the total bandwidth a plurality of tones, where a part of the total bandwidth is occupied by a transmission according to a second specification different from the first specification; logically dividing (3020) the plurality of tones into a plurality of usable tones and into a plurality of guard tones and a plurality of direct current tones to form a tone plan that maintains at least one physical boundary in accordance with the second specification; logically dividing (3030) the plurality of usable tones into a plurality of resource units; wherein logically dividing the plurality of usable tones into the plurality of resource units comprises allocating an amount of tones from the plurality of tones that are not in any resource unit in one or more of a center block, a left center block, and a right central block; determining (3040) an indication, where the indication allocates and links the channels of at least two of the plurality of resource units to a wireless communication device of a plurality of wireless communication devices, where the indication does not allocate the part of the width total band that is occupied by the transmission according to the second specification; wherein the indication further assigns at least a part of one of the center block, the left center block and the right center block to the wireless communication device of the plurality of wireless communication devices; and transmitting (3050) the indication to the plurality of wireless communication devices.
