Methods and devices areprovided for reducing a diabetic patient'sforeign body immune response, includinginfusion site-loss and/or occlusion. Suchforeign body responses are associated withthe treatment of the diabetic patient wherethe treatment requires subcutaneousimplantation of a foreign body, such as acannula or catheter. In certain embodiments ofthe invention, a response-inhibiting agentis administered to a patient at the site ofcannula/catheter insertion, therebyfacilitating delivery of insulin to the diabeticpatient and mitigating site-loss and/orocclusion over a period of time.
