A detection and drilling apparatus for detecting a lithological composition ina roadwayroof during drilling thereof comprises a single head jumbolter for drilling ahole in theroof, a rock debris collector for collecting rock debris during drilling ofthe roof and anenhanced handheld ore analyzer for analyzing the collected rock debris. Therock debriscollector comprises a casing with vent holes, a duct, a collecting funnel, abottom drainpipe, and a dryer device arranged around a filter tube within the casing. Atop openingof the collector funnel is arranged below a borehead drilled by the single-head jumbolter.The collecting funnel is connected to the filter tube via the duct. Duringdrilling therock debris collector collects rock debris for drying, filtering and drainingto providethe collected rock debris to be analyzed by the enhanced handheld analyzer fordetecting the lithological composition in the roof.
