The present disclosure relates to processes, systems, devices andtechniques for pre-treating an aqueous suspension including fine solidparticlesand coarse debris, in order to remove coarse debris prior to furthertreatments.The present techniques are particularly claimed and described with respect toan aqueous suspension derived from mining operations and referred to asmining tailings, including oil sands fine tailings, such as mature finetailings(MFT).
