The present invention relates to a device and a method for improving the pitchcontrolof a fixed-wing aircraft, particularly in a deep wing stall. The device inaccordancewith the present invention comprises at least a rotary-wing unit (14) forgeneratingmoment about the pitch axis of said aircraft to effectively actuate the pitchcontrol ofsaid aircraft, even in a deep stall. Computer simulation results suggestedthat anairplane in the form of an engineless sailplane, equipped with the presentinventionwill be able to perform multi-flip waterfall maneuver with ease. Simulationsfurtherrevealed that the present invention would enable an airplane with thrust-to-weightratio of greater than unity to have the capability to raise its angle ofattack to a highangle while stationary on the ground in order to perform ultra-short takeoffbased onharrier maneuver.
