ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH POROUS SURFACE OF BOUNDARY LAYER SUCTION

There is disclosed an engine assembly, including an internal combustion enginehavinga housing and a coolant circuitry in heat exchange relationship with thehousing. Aporous surface is configured for defining a portion of an external surface ofan aircraft.Apertures are defined through the porous surface. The housing of the internalcombustion engine is in heat exchange relationship with the porous surface forheatingthe porous surface. An air conduit has an inlet fluidly connected to aboundary layerregion outside the engine assembly and adjacent the porous surface via theaperturesof the porous surface. The air conduit is in heat exchange relationship withthe coolantcircuitry. A forced air system is fluidly connected to the inlet of the airconduit and isoperable to draw an airflow from the inlet and inside the air conduit. Amethod ofoperating the engine assembly is disclosed.
