The invention relates to a sizing composition, comprising a solid component, comprising a clay and mica, wherein the clay comprises approx. 50 to 90 wt.% kaolinite and approx. 5 to 35 wt.% montmorillonite, wherein the sizing composition comprises approx. 5 to 50 pbw of clay in relation to the solid component. The invention also relates to a method for coating a casting mould and to the use of the sizing composition for coating a casting mould.
