The present invention provides an apparatus and a method withwhich a bulky three-dimensional emblem made of a thermoplastic syntheticresin, the emblem containing a vapor-deposited-metal laminated film, can beproduced. An apparatus for producing a three-dimensional emblem made ofa thermoplastic synthetic resin of the present invention includes a slide jig10in which an electrode flat plate die 11 and an electrode projecting die 14 areprovided in such a manner as to be slidable in a horizontal plane, anelectrode recessed die 20 that is capable of approaching and separating fromthe slide jig in a vertical direction and is disposed at a position where theelectrode recessed die can oppose the electrode flat plate die and theelectrodeprojecting die, and a high-frequency oscillator that performs high-frequencydielectric heating by continuously generating a high-frequency voltage acrossthe opposing dies, wherein one or more recesses 12 are formed in a surface ofthe electrode flat plate die that opposes the electrode recessed die, andduringhigh-frequency dielectric heating, a portion 44a of the lower layer materialenters the recess, so that the lower layer material that has been shaped isheld on the electrode flat plate die.
