The present invention provides an enzyme-based electrochemical biosensor that can be used for detecting specifically low levels of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) in biological fluids. This biosensor typically includes an electrode system and a functional Sulfide Quinone Reductase (SQR) enzyme. The present invention also provides methods and systems for measuring H₂S in biological fluids by means of this sensor.
