A method and device for recognizing a dynamic facial expression, relating to an intelligent terminal technology, for use in reducing the calculation amount of recognizing the dynamic facial expression by an intelligent terminal. The method comprises: the intelligent terminal classifies each frame image comprised in an original dynamic image according to a facial expression similarity, and merges the frame images belonging to the same class; and regenerate a dynamic image to be detected on the basis of the merged frame images, and then match the dynamic image to be detected with a standard dynamic image set, thereby triggering a corresponding service function.
