The present invention relates to a color converter comprising a polymeric matrix mate- rial and at least one organic fluorescent colorant selected from a compound of formulae l.a, l.b, l.c or mixtures thereof R¹, R², R³, R⁵, R⁶, R⁷ are hydrogen, C₁-C₂₀-alkyl or C₆-C₁₄-aryl-C₁-C₁₀-alkylene, wherein the aryl moiety is unsubstituted or substituted by k substituents R⁹; R^4a, R^4b are fluorine, chlorine, cyano or OR¹⁰, R^8a, R^8b are C₁-C₂₀-alkyl; R^8C is C₁-C₂₀-alkyl, C₆-C₁₀-aryl or C₆-C₁₀-aryl-C₁-C₁₀-alkylene, wherein the aryl moieties in two aforementioned radicals are unsubstituted or substituted by k substituents R⁹; k, R⁹ and R¹⁰ are as defined in the claims and in the description. The invention also describes the use of color converters; a backlight unit for liquid crystal displays; a liquid crystal display device and a self-emissive display device comprising this color converter and an ink formulation comprising a compound of formulae l.a, l.b or l.c and the use thereof.
