The invention relates to a large crane (1) having a main boom (11) in at least two parts, with the upper and lower part of the main boom being coupled together to swivel about a hinge point (113). According to the invention, the lower part (110) and the upper part (111) of the main boom are configured such that they lie above one another, more particularly on one another, when the main boom is stowed. The invention is further directed to a method for erecting or stowing a large crane of this kind.
