The present application is directed to a method and apparatus for RAN event report transmission and network optimization based on analytics of RAN event reports. According to an embodiment of the present application, a method includes: sending an event report subscription to a radio access network node, receiving a report of an event associated with the event report subscription from the radio access network node, and transmitting the received report to a network data analytics function. This method can be implemented in a network function in a core network, for example, an access management function or a RAN event collection function.
