The present invention relates to total knee arthroplasty used on the knee joint including the tibia and femur that are to be treated and, more specifically, to a gap gauge and a unit which are capable of checking a flexion gap prior to cutting of the posterior femoral area. This gap gauge and unit comprise a measurement part that can measure the distance between a posterior femoral cut surface and a proximal tibial cut surface during an artificial knee joint operation. The measurement part is set in position by being coupled to a slot in a posterior femoral cutting guide positioned on a distal femoral cut surface, thus enabling the flexion gap to be checked prior to the cutting of the posterior femur. The measurement part includes a first measurement part that is positioned in a space between the proximal tibial cut surface and the cutting guide and measures the flexion gap, prior to the cutting of the posterior femur. The first measurement part includes: a cutting slot coupled part coupled to the slot of the cutting guide; and a tibia resting part resting on the proximal tibial cut surface. The cutting slot coupled part includes: a blade configured to be couplable to a cutting slot of the cutting guide and inserted into the cutting slot of the cutting guide; and a cutting block accommodation groove that accommodates the lower portion of the cutting guide when the blade is inserted, thereby ensuring the insertion depth of the gap gauge.
