Provided is a photosensitive epoxy resin composition for forming an optical waveguide that can be used for an optical waveguide forming material which has excellent heat coloring resistance and patterning property and further has excellent R-to-R compatibility (excellent flexibility of uncured resin). The photosensitive epoxy resin composition for forming an optical waveguide comprises an epoxy resin component and a photocationic polymerization initiator, said epoxy resin component including an epoxy resin having a tri- or higher functional bisphenol A type skeleton.
