A method of handling an overload situation of a Session Initiation Protocol, SIP, node in a telecommunication network, wherein said method comprises the steps of receiving, by a proxy SIP node in said telecommunication network, an SIP request for requesting a service in said telecommunication network, forwarding, by said proxy SIP node, said SIP request to a service SIP node in said telecommunication network, receiving, by said proxy SIP node, from said service SIP node, a Server Failure Response message, wherein said Server Failure Response message comprises an indication that said service node cannot fulfil said SIP request due to an overload situation at said service SIP node, and restricting, by said proxy SIP node, future SIP traffic to said service SIP node based on said received Server Failure Response message.
