The invention relates to a driving belt mechanism for boosting the driving performance of a belt conveyor. The driving belt mechanism according to the invention is in the form of an unit which can be retrofitted onto a belt-supporting structure of the belt conveyor without requiring any separate bearing units, e.g. bases for the driving belt mechanism.
