The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition comprising a Centella asiatica adventitious root extract as an effective ingredient for skin whitening and wrinkle reduction. The Centella asiatica adventitious root extract of the present invention is not cytotoxic, has excellent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activity, inhibits the generation of melanin pigments and matrix metalloproteinase, and excellently enhances procollagen production, thus finding advantageous applications in cosmetic materials or topical dermal agents for skin whitening and wrinkle reduction.
