A ONE COMPONENT MOISTURE-CURABLE POLYURETHANE ADHESIVE COMPOSITION FOR ROOFING APPLICATIONS

A liquid, one component moisture-curable polyurethane adhesive comprising the reaction products of a polyisocyanate with a hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene, and optionally additives and one or both of a polyester polyol and a polyether diol. In some embodiments the adhesive can be solvent free and have a high solids content of 85% or greater. The adhesive finds use in bonding roofing membranes to roofing deck substrates. It is effective and does not require specialized equipment to apply. It can be applied to only the roofing membrane, only the roofing substrate or to both as desired. In some applications the adhesive initially cures forming a thin skin with liquid adhesive below which permits for easy manipulation of the roofing membrane on the roof substrate. Once properly positioned light pressure breaks the skin and spreads the adhesive between the roofing membrane and the roofing substrate bond the membrane to the substrate.
