The invention relates to the field of engineering, and more particularly to a method for predicting the state of a technical system on the basis of pseudo-periodic functions. The present invention can be used in the creation, use, control and monitoring of a variety of different systems, including complex technical systems used in power generation, mechanical engineering, public utilities and other fields. The present invention addresses the problem of creating a method for predicting the state of a technical system on the basis of pseudo-periodic functions which would make it possible to determine using manual and automated methods the recurrence of events in order to identify periods of functions describing the working of a technical system and the onset of given events related primarily to faults and failures. By comparison with methods known to the applicants, the claimed method is universal and highly flexible and makes it possible to achieve better results. In particular, it makes it possible to objectively and automatically predict the state of a technical system on the basis of periods of pseudo-periodic functions describing the functioning of the system.
