The present invention relates to Octominin, which is a synthetic peptide having excellent antimicrobial activity against both fungi and bacteria, a fragment thereof, and an antimicrobial composition comprising Octominin and a fragment thereof. Octominin or a fragment thereof according to the present invention exhibits a high killing effect on both fungi and bacteria, such as Candida albicans, Streptococcus parauberis, etc., without cytotoxicity and as such, can be advantageously useful in treating and preventing the infection of humans or animals with pathogens.
