This distribution design assistance method assists with the selection of an encryption condition for increasing viewing time for adaptive bit rate video distribution, such assistance being the result of a computer executing a sequence in which: a numerical model is used to estimate the relationship between an application quality index and a viewing time or a viewing withdrawal rate, on the basis of an actual viewing time value for each of a plurality of first sessions relating to the video distribution and an actual application quality index value for each of the sessions; on the basis of a plurality of encryption conditions relating to the video distribution and the actual time-series throughput value of each of a plurality of second sessions, an application quality index for each of the sessions is estimated, for each encryption condition; and the application quality index estimated under the encryption condition is applied to the relationship, for each encryption condition, to estimate an average viewing time of the plurality of second sessions.
