Provided by the present invention are a 3D fingerprint image-based gender recognition method and system, the 3D fingerprint image-based gender recognition method comprising the following steps: step S1, collecting fingerprint image data of a user on the basis of optical coherence tomography; step S2, extracting and training a gender characteristic in the fingerprint image data according to the fingerprint image data; step S3, building a gender characteristic extraction and classification model; and step S4, executing gender recognition and prediction by means of the gender characteristic extraction and classification model. The present invention analyzes and recognizes a gender characteristic by using a 3D fingerprint image to verify the existence of a gender characteristic inside of a fingerprint so as to avoid the influence of the surface environment of a fingerprint image on the recognition thereof; moreover, a gender differentiation solution having higher accuracy and precision is provided, and anti-noise performance is improved, thereby having very important significance in gender classification for forensic anthropology, tracking and identifying unknown populations, surveying population data and so on.
