Provided is a small-sized stage mechanism having minimal backlash and minimal play in the direction along the shaft of a feed screw. A stage mechanism 10 is provided with a feed screw 11, a fixing stage 13 having a space part 13a for housing the feed screw, a movable stage 15, and a backlash absorbing part 17, the feed screw being provided with a first end part 11d and a second end part 11e, the stage mechanism being further provided with a shift prevention part 19 for preventing the feed screw from shifting in the direction toward the first end part, and a pressing force adjustment part 21 for adjusting a pressing force with which the feed screw is pressed toward the first end part from the second end part side, the shift prevention part being in contact with a wall 13b of the space part on the first end part side, and the pressing force adjustment part being pressed in line contact against the second end part.
