A design assistance device for assisting in the design of a power supply system in which power from a power source is distributed and supplied to a plurality of load devices by means of a power distribution supply path in which a plurality of power cables are combined, said design assistance device comprising: a means for acquiring configuration information indicating the configuration of the power distribution supply path; a means for acquiring, for each of a plurality of load devices, operation pattern information representing an operation pattern for the load device; a means for calculating a maximum current for each power cable, which is the maximum value of the current flowing in that power cable, on the basis of the configuration information and the operation pattern information for each load device; and a means for outputting, for each power cable, the maximum current value for that power cable, and/or recommended cable information indicating a cable recommended for use as that power cable, on the basis of the calculated maximum current value for each power cable. By means of this configuration it is possible to assist in the design of a power supply system.
