This method for ultrasound imaging using two-dimensional Fourier transform includes, by controlling (902) emitting and receiving transducers: obtaining (904) M matrices MRm, 1≤m≤M, of sampled ultrasound time signals; applying (908) the two-dimensional Fourier transform to each matrix MRm to obtain M spectral matrices FTMRm; converting (910) each spectral matrix FTMRm to obtain M spectral images FTIm; combining (912) the M spectral images FTIm and applying (914) the inverse two-dimensional Fourier transform to the resulting spectral image FTI to obtain an ultrasound image I. The converting step (910) includes taking into account a change in propagation mode during backscattering, by adding a parameter characterizing this change in mode to the equations for changing frame of reference (SYS), and/or taking into account a reflection off a wall, by adding a phase-shift term to a matrix transformation relationship (REL).
