An automated external defibrillator (100) and a method for collecting statistics about events thereof. The automated external defibrillator (100) comprises: a master control unit (101), a memory (102), an output unit (103), an electrode plate (104), and a power supply (105); the electrode plate (104) is configured to acquire electrocardiogram data and send a defibrillation electric shock pulse; the master control unit (101) is configured to identify N types of preset rescue events during use of the automated external defibrillator (100), to separately collect statistics about each type of preset rescue event, to store a result obtained after collecting statistics about each type of preset rescue event by the master control unit in the memory (102), and to, after receiving an output instruction, trigger the output unit (103) to output a result obtained after collecting cumulative statistics about each type of preset rescue event by the master control unit (101) and stored in the memory (102). Compared with dictated notification of rescue information in the prior art that may result in omissions and errors, the statistics result of each type of preset rescue event output by the automated external defibrillator (100) and the method for collecting statistics about events thereof is more accurate, thereby facilitating a doctor making more accurate judgment on the situation of a patient, and providing more accurate support for further subsequent therapeutic plan making.
