A traffic road network description method and device. Said method comprises: obtaining a data feature of a lane for separating traffic flows traveling in the same direction (S101); constructing a lane object in a traffic road network according to the data feature of the lane (S102); generating a data structure of the traffic road network according to the lane object (S103); and mounting information data of the traffic road network into the data structure to obtain description information for the traffic road network (S104). The traffic road network description method solves the problem in the prior art that a basic road network lacks a description for a traffic entity of a lane granularity, thereby being unable to fully use the lane-based traffic information.
