Provided are an evaluation system and a method for evaluating vulcanized rubber material deterioration by ozone, that allows changes over time of the deterioration by ozone to be ascertained accurately while reducing operation man-hours. The invention involves: attaching and positioning a test sample S of vulcanized rubber material onto a fixing frame 3 under preset positioning conditions in a test tank 2 having a predetermined ozone concentration; detecting the distance from a laser sensor 5 to the surface of the test sample S with the laser sensor 5 disposed opposite a surface of the test sample S which has been positioned in the test tank 2, and acquiring detection data 5x therefrom; and analyzing the acquired detection data 5x with a calculation device 8, to ascertain the change in the surface state of the test sample S between a plurality of time points.
