Provided are: a cultivation unit for a hydroponic cultivation system whereby an appropriate amount of water can be supplied to an agricultural crop; a method for manufacturing the cultivation unit for a hydroponic cultivation system; a hydroponic cultivation system; and a method for the cultivation of an agricultural crop using the hydroponic cultivation system. The cultivation unit 1 is used for the cultivation of an agricultural crop T. The cultivation unit 1 is provided with a tray 3, a nonwoven fabric 4 and a cultivation medium layer 5. A drainage port 3a is formed in a bottom plate 3b of the tray 3. The nonwoven fabric 4 is laid all over the upper surface of the bottom plate 3b of the tray 3. The cultivation medium layer 5, which is layered on the nonwoven fabric 4, is formed of a cultivation medium wherein the agricultural crop T grows. When a nutrient solution is supplied, a preset amount of the nutrient solution is held by the nonwoven fabric 4 while the excessive portion of the nutrient solution is discharged from the drainage port 3a.
