This alkylene oxide derivative is represented by formula (1), wherein a ratio Mz/Mw between the z-average molecular weight (Mz) and the weight average molecular weight (Mw) calculated from a chromatogram obtained through a gel permeation chromatography measurement satisfies the relationship of formula (2). Formula (1): Z-[O-(PO)a-(PO)b/(EO)c]-H]n (Z represents a residue resulting from removing all hydroxyl groups from a compound having 1-24 carbon atoms and 1-6 hydroxyl groups, n represents a number of 1-6, PO represents an oxypropylene group, EO represents an oxyethylene group, a and b each represent an addition mole number of PO, a represents a number of 1-100, b represents a number of 1-100, c represents a number of 1-200, a+b+c≥10 and b/c=1/5 to 5/1 are both satisfied, (PO)b/(EO)c indicates that PO and EO are randomly added, and the randomness rate x of PO and EO satisfies 0.1≤x≤1.
