Disclosed are: a method for producing synthetic hair fibres that are given a specified shape; and synthetic hair fibres that are given a specified shape, the fibres elongating when in a moist state and shrinking when dried from a moist state. This method for producing synthetic hair fibres includes: introducing cysteine to the surface of fibroin fibres including modified fibroin; and bringing the fibroin fibres into contact with a cold perm solution in a state in which the fibroin fibres are kept in a state conforming to a specified shape. The specified shape includes a curved portion, a linear portion or both.
