In a method for operating a driver assistance function of a vehicle, a position of the vehicle is determined. Map data of a road map are provided. Current and historical traffic data are provided on the basis of the position. A list of driver assistance functions is provided. On the basis of the position, the map data and the current and historical traffic data, it is determined whether a situation applies in which a driver assistance function from the list can be used. If it has been determined that the situation applies, information for setting the driver assistance function is provided to a driver of the vehicle.
