An underwater detector, and a device and method for measuring the flow velocity and flow direction of groundwater. The underwater detector comprises a sealing housing (10); an infrared sensing module (1) is provided in the sealing housing; the infrared sensing module (1) can rotate around a main shaft (9) along a horizontal plane at a fixed angular velocity; an electronic compass (2) is provided on the infrared sensing module (1); the bottom of the sealing housing (10) is connected with an indicator (3) by means of a rotation shaft; under the action of water flow, the indicator (3) can freely rotate on the horizontal plane along the rotation shaft; the indicator (3) comprises a head and a tail; a light source (4) is provided on the tail; the light source (4) is used for vertically and upwardly emitting a light beam; the light beam can be received by the infrared sensing module (1); the infrared sensing module (1) is used for triggering, when receiving the light beam, the electronic compass (2) to record its own real-time direction relative to the main shaft (9), and a water flow direction obtained after being processed by a processor module (7); a spring is connected between the head and the tail; the infrared sensing module (1) is further used for directly transmitting the time of receiving the light beam to the processor module (7); the processor module (7) is used for calculating a water flow velocity.
