Provided is a method for detecting the disinfection state of an object. A disinfection-state detection method according to the present invention comprises: a step (a) for irradiating an object with first ultraviolet rays having a wavelength of 200-230 nm; a step (b) for detecting a decomposition product released from the object following the step (a); and a step (c) for determining that the object needs to be subjected to a disinfection treatment in the case where a detected intensity, which represents the intensity of a detection signal corresponding to a detected concentration of the decomposition product detected in the step (b), exceeds a threshold value.
