Disclosed are a cellular communication system based on duplex D2D communication, and a communication mode selection method therefor. Duplex D2D communication technology is introduced on the basis of an existing cellular network. By means of detecting the current channel condition, and thereby selecting a full-duplex D2D communication mode, a half-duplex D2D communication mode or a traditional cellular communication mode to carry out communication between wireless terminals, the communication modes are flexibly selected, the degree of freedom of communication is relatively high, and the throughput of the cellular communication system can be improved, thereby improving the QoS under the condition of user congestion or for cell edge users, reducing the short-distance P2P communication delay, and improving the communication reliability. According to the present invention, the transmission rate is improved using a gain brought to short-distance communication by full-duplex D2D communication technology, and the requirements for the transmission power of a wireless device are also effectively reduced. The present invention supports various QoS requirements, conforms to the future development trend of wireless networks, will be an important basis for large-scale Internet of Things in the future, and will also be an important technical carrier for 5G communication in the future.
