Disclosed is a drive motor employing an asymmetric-magnetic-pole permanent magnet and a claw-pole electromagnet for use in an electric vehicle. The drive motor comprises: a front cover, a rear cover, a housing, an asymmetric-magnetic-pole permanent magnet rotor, a claw-pole electromagnetic rotor, and a stator. The asymmetric-magnetic-pole permanent magnet rotor is provided with first magnetic pole groups and second magnetic pole groups, wherein the first magnetic pole group and the second magnetic pole group are structurally asymmetrical to each other. The first magnetic pole groups and the second magnetic pole groups are alternately arranged, and outer surfaces of the first magnetic pole group and the second magnetic pole group have north pole and south pole polarities, respectively. The present motor rotor structure improves internal space utilization for motor rotors by means of changing the structure of magnetic poles, in which second magnets collect part of the magnetic field of first magnets to compensate for a depression in the middle of an air-gap waveform of each pole, thereby improving motor performance, Moreover, the reduced number of permanent magnets helps reduce the cost of the motor.
