The present invention relates to: a method for manufacturing an ethylene tetramerization catalyst system comprising following steps of conducting a reaction of a borate compound and a first organoaluminum compound, and sequentially inputting a chrome compound and a bisphosphine ligand compound; a catalyst system manufactured by the same; and a novel bisphosphine ligand suitable for implementing high activity and selectivity. Through the same, the present invention can realize excellent selectivity and high economic efficiency for 1-octene when applied to the method for manufacturing an ethylene tetramerization (oligomerization reaction), and in particular, unlike an existing catalyst system, the present invention eliminates the use of expensive methylaluminoxane, thereby being able to secure excellent economic efficiency and stable process operation in a commercialization process.
