Provided is an artificial intelligence (AI) server for generating a function control protocol of an Internet of things (IoT) home appliance. According to the present invention, a memory stores a protocol generating program for generating a function control protocol for function control of an IoT home appliance by learning information related to the IoT home appliance (hereinafter referred to as ′IoT home appliance information′). A processor executes the protocol generating program stored in the memory to collect and learn the IoT home appliance information to classify a type, a model name, and functions of the IoT home appliance, learns information on the classified type, model name, and functions to define a prototype which specifies a function code and sets values for each function, and defines the function control protocol based on the defined prototype, wherein an AI database (DB) maps the defined function control protocol to the model name of the IoT home appliance.
