The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for migrating one or more M2M-related identities in an access network when establishing a connection bearer between the M2M device and an access network to connect an M2M device and an M2M service provider (SP). The present invention provides an apparatus for transmitting one or more selected M2M identifiers from an M2M apparatus during a bearer establishment procedure in connection with the apparatus. Regarding the network, the present invention initiates receiving the selected M2M identifiers during the bearer establishment procedure, associating them with the connection bearer being established, and recording them as associated with the connection bearer. The M2M identifier has no special meaning in the access network domain, but the invention has the advantage that the recorded M2M identifier can be used for improved billing reconciliation between the M2M SP and the access network provider.
