Techniques for autonomous construction, maintenance, and repair of a wireless communication network are provided between a plurality of autonomous mobile nodes (AMNs). The plurality of AMNs fly towards the first node. The tentacles are extended to cover the second node, which is constructed and separated from the first node, thereby establishing a wireless communication network between the first node and the second node through the plurality of AMNs. Any damage to the established wireless communication network or tentacles can be detected and repaired autonomously using redundant AMNs. In addition, the communication network can be used to enable autonomous detection and tracking of the second node, as well as autonomous detection of contaminated areas, based on data received from one or more sensors mounted in airborne AMNs.
