An acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) system in an audio playback system of an electronic device, such as a mobile phone, may calculate an estimate of the acoustic echo based on parameters describing a transducer that reproduces audio playback signals. These parameters may include, for example, the resistance and / or inductance of the transducer and the current through the transducer and / or the voltage across the transducer. The acoustic echo cancellation system can predict the coil velocity of the transducer based, for example, on the transducer impedance. The echo can then be estimated using the predicted coil speed. The estimated echo can be output to the transducer to cancel the echo in the playback signal. In addition, the estimated echo can be used to predict a suitable signal generated to cancel nonlinearities and nonlinear behavior of the transducer output.
