Disclosed is a method of calculating the capacity of a ground heat exchanger having an atypical arrangement structure in a ground heat pump system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method of calculating the capacity of a ground heat exchanger includes: a first step of defining central coordinate values (Xi, Yi) of each borehole forming a cylindrical arrangement structure and calculating a reference distance sum (Sd) which is the sum of distances between boreholes; a second step of calculating a borehole gap value, which is applied if a target arrangement structure is converted into the cylindrical arrangement structure, as a modification borehole gap value (Bopt); and a third step of calculating the volume (V) of an underground heat storage tank, which is the capacity of the target arrangement structure, based on the modification borehole gap value (Bopt).
