Systems and methods related to dual connectivity (DC) for a wireless device in a wireless communication network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a method at a secondary node for providing, with a master node, a DC for a wireless device—the wireless device utilizes resources provided by both the master node and the secondary node in a wireless communication network. This release request is a request to release the wireless device context of the wireless device or to release resources for the wireless device. The method further includes sending a release rejection to the master node. This release refusal is an indication that the secondary node rejects the release request.
