The present invention relates to an anti-diabetic composition comprising an extract of Apis mellifera as an effective component, and more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition and health functional food comprising an extract of Apis mellifera, used in bee-keeping, as an effective component, which prevent or treat/alleviate diabetes by α-amylase inhibition, β-amylase inhibition, and α-glucosidase inhibition. The extract of Apis mellifera of the present invention as an effective component of the anti-diabetic composition, as shown in embodiments of the present specification, has desirable effects to be used as a drug and health functional food for preventing or alleviating diabetes. Further, the extract of Apis mellifera of the present invention has excellent thermostability, does not show a loss in amylase inhibition activity even in an acidic condition at pH 2 and blood plasma, and can be conveniently processed into various forms such as liquid, cream, powder, pills, tablets, etc., and thus can be extremely beneficially used in the drug and food industries.
