Energy Harvesting RFID Circuits, Energy Harvesting RFID Tags and Related Methods

An energy harvesting RFID circuit is provided for performing measurements wirelessly. The RFID circuit receives an interrogation signal for an input lead from an antenna and harvests energy stored in a charge storage unit that generates a harvested voltage. The boost converter then boosts the harvested voltage to the boosted voltage and supplies the output voltage to the sensor output leads. A booster switching unit is also provided for activating the boost converter. The booster switching unit does not activate the boost converter until the voltage output by the charge storage unit reaches a first threshold. Based on the output voltage, the one or more sensor input leads receive a measurement input that reflects the sensed value of the object to be measured, such as the strain of a pipe fitting.
