The present invention relates to a biomarker for the diagnosis or prognosis prediction of metabolic diseases and a method for providing information necessary for the diagnosis of metabolic diseases using the biomarker of the present invention. Specifically, the present invention can provide information necessary for the diagnosis of metabolic diseases by using a brain metabolite in which a quantitative level in brain tissue is increased or decreased compared to a normal individual.
