The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating influenza virus infection and a composition for inhibiting neuraminidase (NA) activity, containing one or more extracts selected from the group consisting of smilax china, aloe, syzygium aromaticum merrill et perry, nelumbinis Semen, and polygoni avicularis herba, or a fraction thereof, as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the extracts of smilax china, aloe, syzygium aromaticum merrill et perry, nelumbinis semen, and the fraction thereof are nontoxic to cells and inhibit the activity of NA involved in propagation and proliferation of influenza virus, thereby being useful as a health functional food for preventing or alleviating influenza virus infection, a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating influenza virus infection, and a quasi-drug composition for preventing or treating influenza virus infection.
